We are located in room A2.13 in the Anglesea Building (PO1 3DJ), where the courses are delivered. Room A2.13 is on the 2nd floor of the south wing of the building (nearest the railway line). Please go directly to A2.13 on arrival to the building, but try not to arrive too early as the lab may be closed. There is a seating area on the ground floor of the building where you may wait. To find room A2.13, please take the central staircase up to the second floor, and turn left and left again. A2.13 is at the end of the corridor on the right-hand side. There is also a stairwell at the end of the south wing of the building. If you use that, then A2.13 is on the left at the top of the stairs on the second floor.
General information about how to travel to Portsmouth is available from this University of Portsmouth web page. The University is keen to promote public transport and Portsmouth is served well by railway links.
Portsmouth is on a small island and car parking is limited and can be stressful and expensive. You are advised to stay at a hotel, with its own car parking, within walking distance of Anglesea Building. It will not be possible to use the University's car parks. You may consider the Park & Ride, or one of the city's NCP car parks. There is also a further alternative to park in the Gunwharf Quays for which we can arrange a discounted rate, Mon-Fri excluding school holidays. Gunwharf Quays car parking is ten minutes walk from Anglesea Building. You would need vouchers that we can provide on-demand - please let us know about this at the time of booking your course(s).
If you have a mobility problem and would like to have a disabled parking space, please contact us.
Additional notes on Air Travel:
Heathrow airport has the most flights available but the only effective transport from/to there is by car. Travellers can arrange taxi transfers that are quite economical for 2 or more passengers sharing, with companies like Aqua Cars or Sunny Travel, please ask them for a competitive quote. These need to be pre-booked and usually paid in advance by credit card. Taxi from airport that is not booked in advance is not recommended. Without pre-booking taxi transfer, a coach from Heathrow [bus station] to Woking (the so-called Air-Rail Link) and train from Woking to Portsmouth are a reasonable option.
Travel from Heathrow to central London to then travel to Porstmouth does not make much sense, unless one is spending some time in London.
Gatwick airport is on the train line from London Victoria to Portsmouth. Trains to the airport do not run very early and very late. Please check the train times [type GTW for the starting station and PMS for the destination] at the same time that you are considering flight times. Train tickets can be purchased on line in advance. Otherwise, pre booked taxi (see above) is a good option, particularly when sharing.
Table below lists some local accommodation options. It would be also worth exploring websites, such as booking.com, tripadvisor or visitportsmouth.
