How to Get Here

We are located in room A2.13 in the Anglesea Building (PO1 3DJ), where the courses are delivered. Room A2.13 is on the 2nd floor of the south wing of the building (nearest the railway line). Please go directly to A2.13 on arrival to the building, but try not to arrive too early as the lab may be closed. There is a seating area on the ground floor of the building where you may wait. To find room A2.13, please take the central staircase up to the second floor, and turn left and left again. A2.13 is at the end of the corridor on the right-hand side. There is also a stairwell at the end of the south wing of the building. If you use that, then A2.13 is on the left at the top of the stairs on the second floor.

Train

Our closest station is Portsmouth and Southsea. It’s a 5-minute walk from the buildings on our Guildhall campus.

There are daily direct trains from London Waterloo and London Victoria (2 hours), and regular services from Southampton, Bournemouth, Chichester and Brighton. We’re only a 2-hour journey away from Bristol too.

You can plan your route with National Rail or Trainline

Car

Portsmouth is located on a small island, and parking within the city can be limited, expensive, and at times stressful. Where possible, we recommend booking accommodation with its own parking facilities and within walking distance of the Anglesea Building. Alternatively, the city’s Park & Ride service offers a convenient and reliable option for visitors.

Approach Portsmouth via the M275 (signed ‘Portsmouth West’) whether travelling from the east (A3(M)/A27) or from the west (M27 Junction 12). Please ignore the earlier junctions for Southsea and Hilsea, as these do not provide the most direct route.

If you have a mobility impairment and need to arrange a disabled parking space, please contact us in advance so we can assist.

Taxi

If you're travelling to Portsmouth from one of the major London airports, taxis are fairly expensive. For this reason, we don't recommend taking a taxi for your journey. If you do choose to take a taxi, you should book it in advance to get the best offers possible. Taxi services within Portsmouth include Uber,  Veezu  and Petes Airlink

Coach

Regular daily direct coach services run to Portsmouth from London, Bristol, Birmingham, Heathrow and other locations around the country.

All these services call at The Hard Interchange by Portsmouth Harbour railway station, which is a 15-minute walk from our Guildhall campus.

You can find out coach times and routes with National Express and megabus.

Additional notes on Air Travel:

Heathrow offers the widest choice of international flights; however, direct public transport links to Portsmouth are limited, and the most practical option is usually by pre‑booked taxi.

Shared taxi transfers can be cost‑effective for two or more passengers. Local companies such as Veezu or Petes Airlink provide reliable services and will offer competitive quotes on request. These journeys must be booked in advance, and are typically paid for by credit card.

Booking a taxi on arrival at the airport is not recommended, as availability and pricing can vary significantly.

Travelling from Heathrow into central London and then onward to Portsmouth is generally not advisable, unless you plan to spend time in London as part of your visit.
